Rosemary Herbal Hair Rinse

I decided to try a rosemary herbal hair rinse on my hair because the colored ends of my hair are super dry and my scalp needed a proper cleanse. This hair rinse left my hair super shiny and manageable.

What is a herbal hair rinse?

Essentially, it is a tea that you make for your hair using herbs of your choice. You pour this tea over your hair as a final rinse to get the benefits of the herb(s) you choose.

Why rosemary?

I chose rosemary because it’s my favorite herb for my hair. Rosemary is an antibacterial which will help to cleanse your scalp. It improves circulation, increases shine, fights premature graying, and alleviates dryness and dandruff. Plus, I love the smell of rosemary. It’s invigorating and refreshing.

What you will need:

2 tsp of dried rosemary or 5-10 sprigs of fresh rosemary

3 cups of filtered water

A pot

A strainer

Directions:

1.Add water and water to a pot and bring to a boil. Once the water reaches a boil allow it to boil for about 5-10 minutes.

2. Turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let the mixture steep for 30 minutes. Let the mixture cool until it reaches room temperature.

3. After your wash routine, pour the tea over your hair as a final rinse, then style as usual.

The Verdict

My hair was so soft after this rinse and the shine was amazing. Even my colored ends looked more vibrant. I’ll definitely do a herbal hair rinse ever 2 weeks.

Make Your Own Clay Hair Mask

I am here for you all with this recipe on how to make your own clay mask for your hair.I have tried Terressentials Pure Earth Hair Wash and I absolutely adore the product but as a struggling college student I’ve decided to tighten my budget without giving up my eco-glam lifestyle. So here it is folks! Your at home clay mask for hair.

What You Will Need

Aztec Indian Healing Clay

Aloe Vera Juice

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Lavender Essential Oil (Or any other essential oil(s) of your choice)

Non-metal bowl

Non-metal spoon

Step 1

Add 6 heaping teaspoons of the clay

Add 3 teaspoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Add 2 teaspoons of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Add 6 teaspoons of Aloe Vera Juice

10 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix until smooth

Consistency should be similar to greek yogurt. I like this texture because it stays put and isn’t runny. If you prefer another consistency use more or less aloe vera juice. Also for different hair types you may want to use more or less oil in your mixture. Play around with the amounts of each ingredient and find what’s right for you.

How To Apply the Clay Mask

Apply the mixture to your hair in sections. Focus on your scalp and smooth it onto the hair.

Then, gently massage your scalp for about 2-5 minutes.

After that, let the mixture stay on your hair for anywhere from 10-15 minutes.

Finally, thoroughly rinse out the mask. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.

No products and before deep conditioning

You may follow up with a deep conditioner or continue with your styling regimen.

How Does This Mask Work

Bentonite Clay: Draws impurities from the hair because of its ionic negative charge. It will attract itself to ionic positive charges which include impurities, bacteria, and fungi. These impurities will be absorbed by the clay and rinsed away with the clay.

Aloe Vera Juice: Strengthens the hair, promotes hair growth,moisturizes the hair, reduces dandruff. You can read more about the benefits of aloe vera juice here.

Olive Oil and Coconut Oil: Penetrates the hair shaft to strengthen and moisturize hair.

Lavender Essential Oil: Stimulates hair growth, reduces dandruff, refreshes the scalp, moisturizes the hair, and smells wonderful.
