The 5 Best All Natural Lubes

Does being green in the bedroom sound boring and unsexy? Never that at Lexi’s Green Guide! We want you to make it nasty the green way starting off with lubricants. The lubricants in the stores contain icky chemicals and parabens that are not safe for our bodies. Luckily, there are green-friendly oil and water based personal lubricants. Oil based lubricants are great because they last longer (less reapplications) and provide more slip. The downside to oil based lubricants is that they cannot be used with latex condoms. The oil will cause the latex to break down and tear. The other option is a water based lubricant. Although, it is not usually as long-lasting as oil, they provide enough slip, closely feel like our bodies own lubricant, and are safe to use with latex.

Oil Based Lubricants

Use Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil

Use Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a favorite here at Lexi’s Green Guide so you could only imagine my delight to discover another use for this awesome oil. It makes a great personal lube. It’s long-lasting and slippery without being overly greasy. Coconut Oil is solid at room temperature but once in your hands it begins to melt.

almond oil

Another option (because we like options here at LGG) is Sweet Almond Oil. It has almost no scent and is a light, non-greasy, absorbing oil. This oil is my personal favorite natural lube. Both oils are anti-bacterial. You will not have to have to worry about oils throwing off your pH and in fact, coconut oil has yeast infection fighting capabilities. Even though at first it may seem weird to use oils as lube it is completely safe and much safer than putting parabens on your body. Another great benefit to using these oils is that they are edible if bought from the food aisle in the health food store.

Get creative with your oil based lube use. I suggest warming the oils before use by placing the bottle in a cup of hot water. This will heighten the sensation of the lube when it comes in contact with the skin. Also, try using lube on other sensitive areas of the body such as the nipples or earlobes. The silky, frictionless feel on sensitive areas will have your partner begging for you.

Also, these oils are relatively inexpensive in comparison to the lubricants you buy in stores. Both oils cost about $6-$10 a bottle. Very wallet-friendly.

Water Based Lubricant

aloe vera gel

If you are using latex condoms it is important to use a water based lubricant. Aloe vera gel is a good choice. Aloe is great for your body too. Make sure that you choose a product that is pure aloe vera. This can be found in most health food stores. Aloe vera gel can be found at most health food stores and usually cost about $7-$10.

Another great brand is Good Clean Love. According to their website the ingredients list is as follows: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Agar, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors. This is a great choice because it is edible, safe for silicone toys, and 100% vegan. Also, it is long-lasting and does not a have a sticky clean-up. Click here to purchase Good Clean Love.

Maximize the benefits of your water-based lube. Put a few drops inside of the condom to increase sensations. A little goes a long away. Any thing more than a couple of drops may cause the condom to slip off. Or put a few drops outside of the condom to reduce friction.

LGG would like to know, Would you try these organic lube alternatives?
