Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard. At LGG, we’re here to give you a few tips that will help you successfully make a lifestyle change.
Create A Purpose
Why do you want to eat healthier? This could mean eating healthier for weight loss, increased energy, better sleep, clearer skin, or an overall better body (yes, a healthy diet can help with all of those issues). By creating a purpose you are creating a clear vision of the change you want to see.
Analyze Your Current Diet
Many of us eat without thinking about it. It’s great idea to begin keeping a log of what you normally eat to give yourself a starting point.
Create Positive Goals
After looking at your current diet, assess the areas that you want to change. One option may to drink water instead of soda and juices. Another option is to replace one unhealthy meal a day with a healthy one. Start with small goals that are easy to tackle. Once you accomplish one goal, add another. This gradual change is best for long-term results.
Focus on What You Can Have, Not What You Can’t
For example, try adding kale to your dinners. Or opt for almond milk with your cereal. There are so many tasty, healthy options. Soon, you will begin to notice that healthy eating is a good habit that you have formed.
Plan Your Meals
Even a rough outline works. Think of healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and keep them in mind. Without at least roughly planning your meals you may end up at a restaurant ordering the most unhealthy item. By giving yourself a meal plan you are more aware of what you eat.
Stock Up On Healthy Food
Eating healthy does not mean starving yourself. Make sure that you have healthy options in your kitchen if you ever get a craving for a snack or need to whip up a quick meal. Also, having healthy on-the-go snacks will help you to avoid unhealthy foods away from home.
Use Your Resources
Research healthy eating options. If you need help with creating a diet plan then do a search of dietitians in your area and make an appointment to speak with one. They will be able to help you kick-start your new health lifestyle.
Many of us have a tendency to put our selves down when it comes to body image. This creates negative energy and does nothing to motivate us to do better. Remind yourself each morning of your positive goals. Write them down in a place where you can see them. The notepad of your phone is a great place. Seems corny but it works!
Lastly, remember that change does not happen overnight. Even the smallest change will have a significant impact on your health. Remain positive, healthy, and happy.
