There are a few important things to remember when you have a cold. You need adequate rest and a good diet to help your immune system function at its best level. You should be sleeping at least 6-8 hours every night. Relax, meditate, and clear your mind because stress hinders our immune system’s ability to work well. Also, this would be a great time to shop in the produce section of the grocery store. Stock up on plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to keep your body nourished.
Now that you are eating and sleeping well you should add these recipes to your routine:
Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir
1/3 Cup Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
2/3 Cup Water at Room Temperature
2 Tablespoons Raw Organic Honey
1/2 of a Lemon Squeezed
- Pour ACV in to cup
- Add water
- Add honey
- Add lemon juice
- Stir well
Drink this mixture 2-3 times daily beginning at the first signs of a cold.
The apple cider vinegar has vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to boost your immune system. The honey will work to relieve coughs. Lemons contain vitamin C an essential vitamin to help your immune system.
Lemon Ginger Tea
1 and 1/4 cups of water
Small Sized Ginger Root
1 Tablespoon Honey
- Peel then slice the ginger root
- Pour the water into a pot and add the ginger root
- Bring the water to a boil
- Once boiling reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Strain into a cup
- Add the honey and lemon
Drink this tea in the morning and at night. You may also drink this throughout the day as you feel necessary.
Ginger is known as a strong cold remedy and combined with honey and lemon juice it will really work to help your body get rid of that cold. The hot tea will be very soothing.
Tea Tree Oil Chest Congestion Reliever
Tea Tree Oil
2 cups Water
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
- Remove pot from stove and transfer to a heat-resistant surface away from the hot stove
- Add 1-2 drops of tea tree oil
- Inhale steam.
- Continue to add 1-2 drops at a time and continue to inhale steam for 20 minutes.
The steam will relieve congestion and stuffy nose while the tea tree oil will further aid in clearing congestion.
If you catch the cold at it’s beginning stages then you will be able to lessen the duration and intensity of the cold with these methods. All of the items mentioned can be found at any health food store.
