Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo Review

This a review of the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo. To keep this thing short on this post I’ll refer to it as Shea Moisture JBCO Shampoo.

Long after falling in love with the Shea Moisture JBCO deep conditioner I decided to try the shampoo in the line. Now, if anyone knows my natural journey they know that I avoid shampoo. Instead I opt for clay washes and conditioner washes. I want a product to cleanse my kinky curly hair without stripping it and causing my curls to become dry and frizzy. So stepping back in to the world of shampoo was a big deal. I was looking for a clarifying shampoo and decided to give Shea Moisture JBCO a try.

The Review

It’s a slight warm, vanilla scent. It’s one of my favorite scents from Shea Moisture. It isn’t over powering and it doesn’t linger strongly in your hair.

Thinner viscosity as compared to the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Restorative Conditioner. I was a bit skeptical of its moisturizing benefits because of the thinness but I was so wrong!

Found the holy grail of clarifying shampoos for curly hair. That’s it, I’m done searching. Lathered this up in my hair twice (yes, twice!) and my scalp felt clean. My curls were clumping and my hair was not dry at all. I think the shampoo added moisture to my hair! Not sure what kind of sorcery is happening at Shea Moisture but this one is awesome.
