The Alkaline Pizza

A simple and delicious clean eating pizza. Most of the ingredients in this pizza are alkaline forming foods. I chose spelt flour because my Whole Foods Market does not carry amaranth flour. I was a little bummed but choosing spelt was actually a great alternative. It’s pretty tasty too.

What You Will Need

1 and 1/2 cup spelt flour
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 garlic clove
2 heirloom tomatoes
Dash of sea salt
1 teaspoon of dried oregano and basil
1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup each of sweet red, yellow, and green peppers
1/2 cup of kale
*Mozzarella Cheese (Optional)

Preheat your oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit

Crust Directions

  1. Combine and mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Create a well to pour wet ingredients in to the middle.
  2. Add wet ingredients and use a spoon to combine the wet and dry ingredients
  3. Get your hands dirty and knead the dough. The dough should not be sticky. Add more flour until you have a nice ball of dough. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Set aside covered with a damp piece of paper towel

Sauce Directions

  1. Use a nutribullet or a blender to combine the ingredients. Add a little more olive oil for a thinner consistency. That’s it!

Topping Directions

  1. Heat kale in a skillet with a teaspoon of olive oil and garlic. Heat for about 2-3 minutes just as kale begins to turn a dark green. Do not over cook. This is simply to add extra flavor to the kale.

Putting it all together:

  1. Roll out your dough onto a pan
  2. Spread the sauce onto the dough
  3. Add the toppings
  4. Bake for 20 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

*I made two pizzas. One with cheese as a request and the one without for myself. The pizza with the cheese was much prettier to photograph. Haha. Leave the cheese out for a healthier pizza.
