Lavender Essential Oil For Clear Skin

If you suffer from blemishes try lavender essential oil to spot treat your face. Lavender essential oil is an anti-bacterial and anti-septic, making it a great acne treatment.

After cleansing your face, use your clean fingertips or a cotton swab to dab one drop of lavender essential oil on a blemish. Do not rinse your face. Continue with your skin regimen as normal. And that’s it! An easy way to clear up your skin.

I use this essential oil about 5 times a week to keep the trouble areas of my skin under control and blemish free.

You can find lavender essential oil at most health food stores. Be sure that the essential oil you purchase is 100% pure lavender essential oil and not a fragrance or blend.

Focusing On The Positive: Accomplish Your Healthy Eating Goals

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard. At LGG, we’re here to give you a few tips that will help you successfully make a lifestyle change.

Create A Purpose

Why do you want to eat healthier? This could mean eating healthier for weight loss, increased energy, better sleep, clearer skin, or an overall better body (yes, a healthy diet can help with all of those issues). By creating a purpose you are creating a clear vision of the change you want to see.

Analyze Your Current Diet

Many of us eat without thinking about it. It’s great idea to begin keeping a log of what you normally eat to give yourself a starting point.

Create Positive Goals

After looking at your current diet, assess the areas that you want to change. One option may to drink water instead of soda and juices. Another option is to replace one unhealthy meal a day with a healthy one. Start with small goals that are easy to tackle. Once you accomplish one goal, add another. This gradual change is best for long-term results.

Focus on What You Can Have, Not What You Can’t

For example,  try adding kale to your dinners. Or opt for almond milk with your cereal. There are so many tasty, healthy options. Soon, you will begin to notice that healthy eating is a good habit that you have formed.

Plan Your Meals

Even a rough outline works. Think of healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and keep them in mind. Without at least roughly planning your meals you may end up at a restaurant ordering the most unhealthy item. By giving yourself a meal plan you are more aware of what you eat.

Stock Up On Healthy Food

Eating healthy does not mean starving yourself. Make sure that you have healthy options in your kitchen if you ever get a craving for a snack or need to whip up a quick meal. Also, having healthy on-the-go snacks will help you to avoid unhealthy foods away from home.

Use Your Resources

Research healthy eating options. If you need help with creating a diet plan then do a search of dietitians in your area and make an appointment to speak with one. They will be able to help you kick-start your new health lifestyle.

Positive Affirmations

Many of us have a tendency to put our selves down when it comes to body image. This creates negative energy and does nothing to motivate us to do better. Remind yourself each morning of your positive goals. Write them down in a place where you can see them. The notepad of your phone is a great place. Seems corny but it works!

Lastly, remember that change does not happen overnight. Even the smallest change will have a significant impact on your health. Remain positive, healthy, and happy.

Chocolate is a natural aphrodisiac. The strawberries…well we remember strawberries from my “Foods That Make You Taste Great” post.  Together chocolate and strawberries are a sexy way to set the mood.

How To Get Over Your Cold Quickly

There are a few important things to remember when you have a cold. You need adequate rest and a good diet to help your immune system function at its best level. You should be sleeping at least 6-8 hours every night. Relax, meditate, and clear your mind because stress hinders our immune system’s ability to work well. Also, this would be a great time to shop in the produce section of the grocery store. Stock up on plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to keep your body nourished.

Now that you are eating and sleeping well you should add these recipes to your routine:

Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir

1/3 Cup Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

2/3 Cup Water at Room Temperature

2 Tablespoons Raw Organic Honey

1/2 of a Lemon Squeezed

  1. Pour ACV in to cup
  2. Add water
  3. Add honey
  4. Add lemon juice
  5. Stir well

Drink this mixture 2-3 times daily beginning at the first signs of a cold.

The apple cider vinegar has vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to boost your immune system. The honey will work to relieve coughs. Lemons contain vitamin C an essential vitamin to help your immune system.

Lemon Ginger Tea

1 and 1/4 cups of water

Small Sized Ginger Root

1/2 Lemon

1 Tablespoon Honey

  1. Peel then slice the ginger root
  2. Pour the water into a pot and add the ginger root
  3. Bring the water to a boil
  4. Once boiling reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Strain into a cup
  6. Add the honey and lemon

Drink this tea in the morning and at night. You may also drink this throughout the day as you feel necessary.

Ginger is known as a strong cold remedy and combined with honey and lemon juice it will really work to help your body get rid of that cold. The hot tea will be very soothing.

Tea Tree Oil Chest Congestion Reliever

Tea Tree Oil

2 cups Water

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
  2. Remove pot from stove and transfer to a heat-resistant surface away from the hot stove
  3. Add 1-2 drops of tea tree oil
  4. Inhale steam.
  5. Continue to add 1-2 drops at a time and continue to inhale steam for 20 minutes.

The steam will relieve congestion and stuffy nose while the tea tree oil will further aid in clearing congestion.

If you catch the cold at it’s beginning stages then you will be able to lessen the duration and intensity of the cold with these methods. All of the items mentioned can be found at any health food store.

The 5 Best All Natural Lubes

Does being green in the bedroom sound boring and unsexy? Never that at Lexi’s Green Guide! We want you to make it nasty the green way starting off with lubricants. The lubricants in the stores contain icky chemicals and parabens that are not safe for our bodies. Luckily, there are green-friendly oil and water based personal lubricants. Oil based lubricants are great because they last longer (less reapplications) and provide more slip. The downside to oil based lubricants is that they cannot be used with latex condoms. The oil will cause the latex to break down and tear. The other option is a water based lubricant. Although, it is not usually as long-lasting as oil, they provide enough slip, closely feel like our bodies own lubricant, and are safe to use with latex.

Oil Based Lubricants

Use Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil

Use Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a favorite here at Lexi’s Green Guide so you could only imagine my delight to discover another use for this awesome oil. It makes a great personal lube. It’s long-lasting and slippery without being overly greasy. Coconut Oil is solid at room temperature but once in your hands it begins to melt.

almond oil

Another option (because we like options here at LGG) is Sweet Almond Oil. It has almost no scent and is a light, non-greasy, absorbing oil. This oil is my personal favorite natural lube. Both oils are anti-bacterial. You will not have to have to worry about oils throwing off your pH and in fact, coconut oil has yeast infection fighting capabilities. Even though at first it may seem weird to use oils as lube it is completely safe and much safer than putting parabens on your body. Another great benefit to using these oils is that they are edible if bought from the food aisle in the health food store.

Get creative with your oil based lube use. I suggest warming the oils before use by placing the bottle in a cup of hot water. This will heighten the sensation of the lube when it comes in contact with the skin. Also, try using lube on other sensitive areas of the body such as the nipples or earlobes. The silky, frictionless feel on sensitive areas will have your partner begging for you.

Also, these oils are relatively inexpensive in comparison to the lubricants you buy in stores. Both oils cost about $6-$10 a bottle. Very wallet-friendly.

Water Based Lubricant

aloe vera gel

If you are using latex condoms it is important to use a water based lubricant. Aloe vera gel is a good choice. Aloe is great for your body too. Make sure that you choose a product that is pure aloe vera. This can be found in most health food stores. Aloe vera gel can be found at most health food stores and usually cost about $7-$10.

If you would like to purchase a product Sliquid Organics is a great organic lubricant brand. It has rave reviews. This lube is safe for use with silicone toys. Purchase Sliquids from the website.

good clean love

Another great brand is Good Clean Love. According to their website the ingredients list is as follows: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Agar, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors. This is a great choice because it is edible, safe for silicone toys, and 100% vegan. Also, it is long-lasting and does not a have a sticky clean-up. Click here to purchase Good Clean Love.

Maximize the benefits of your water-based lube. Put a few drops inside of the condom to increase sensations. A little goes a long away. Any thing more than a couple of drops may cause the condom to slip off. Or put a few drops outside of the condom to reduce friction.

LGG would like to know, Would you try these organic lube alternatives?

Gave My First Official Hair and Skin Consultation!

Hello everyone! I’m super excited because I’ve had the chance to give my first official hair and skin consultation. I say official because I have been giving green hair and skin advice for years but this is my first actual, thorough meeting. A friend of a friend reached out to me and agreed to become my first client. Although, he had recently adopted a great fitness regimen he wanted to extend his life changes to his hair and skin.

First, I began by asking him questions including questions about his current hair and skin regimen, diet, workout plan, supplements and his goals for his hair and skin. Then, I assessed his hair and skin as he told me about his main concerns. Before, offering my suggestions I made sure to establish his maintenance level. How much time is he willing to commit to the regimen per day? How much money is he willing to spend? I believe that all of this information is important. If someone has only 30 minutes to get ready in the morning versus someone who has one hour then the morning regimen may be different. After establishing all background information and assessments I made my suggestions. I made sure to thoroughly explain why we were choosing to go the green, holistic route. I also, explained the function of every product or ingredient and was happy to answer all of his questions. After sharing my knowledge my client was more than happy to go green beauty route.

We covered food and supplements to help his hair and skin. Then, we created a regimen for his hair according to his hair needs and goal. The same was done for his skin. My client was very pleased after our conversation and has put all the suggestions in to practice immediately. We are excited to see the results and I’ll be sure to update everyone on his progress.

If you would like to have your beauty or diet questions answered click on the Ask Lexi page and fill out the form. I would be happy to help you reach your full beauty potential.
